Hawk Performance's HPS (High Performance Street) compound is a ferro-carbon friction material built to raise brake torque over a stock pad while staying civil on a daily-driven, street-legal car. Hawk publishes it as delivering increased stopping power with a smooth braking feel, consistent brake release, and wear characteristics that stay gentle on rotors. It is a street compound, not a race compound.

HB509F.678 and HB509B.678 are the same HB509 pad shape in two different compounds - F is HPS, B is HPS 5.0 - so they share one application list. The HB509 shape is the standard (non-Brembo) LX-platform front pad: Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Challenger, Magnum, Avenger, Chrysler 200 and the Caliber SRT-4. If your car has Brembo or SRT8 front brakes, you need the HB563 shape instead, not this one.

• Compound: HPS. The same shape in HPS 5.0 is HB509B.678 - that is the only difference between the two part numbers.
• Pad thickness 0.678 in, taken from the .678 suffix in the part number.
• OE clips are included with this part number.
• For standard front brakes only - Hawk lists this pad as Exc. Brembo Brakes on the applications that offer both.
• Sold as a complete 4-pad axle set - enough for one axle, not one wheel.
• Bed-in is required before normal use; follow Hawk's published installation and bed-in procedure.
• Street compound - Hawk categorises this pad under Street, not Motorsports.
• Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. Hawk pads are designed to work with iron/metal rotors.
