It is custom-moulded for the 2001-2004 Toyota Tacoma and wraps the leading edge of the hood to push rocks, gravel and insect strike up and over the hood, windshield and roofline. Because it sits proud of the sheet metal rather than hugging it, air and water pass behind the shield, so the hood can be washed by hand or through a car wash without trapping grit against the paint.

Installation is drill-free. Husky's instruction sheet (INS-HS22) has you locate the four factory weatherstrip fasteners under the hood lip that line up with the shield's pre-drilled holes, discard them, and secure the shield with the four supplied fasteners and four bump-ons using only a Phillips screwdriver. No holes are made in the vehicle.
