This is the driver side converter assembly on the 5.4L V8, the primary catalyst that bolts straight to the exhaust manifold flange and carries both the pre converter and midbed oxygen sensor bungs. The clam-shell body is 16 gauge 409 stainless with free flowing mandrel bent tubing, 308 stainless MIG welds and an attached aluminized steel heat shield, and a single laser fusion weld cuts the chance of a leak at the seam. Overall length is 30 in, running a flange inlet into a pipe connection outlet over a ceramic substrate, and the compact low mass housing helps thermal efficiency. It interchanges with OE parts 5L1Z-5E212-DA, 5L1Z-5E212-FA and 6L1Z-5E212-A. Installation needs no cutting or welding; gaskets, clamps and hangers are sold separately.
