SPL Parts adjustable front caster rod spherical bushings replace the large hydraulic OEM caster rod bushing with a 6061-T6 billet aluminum housing carrying an FK USA PTFE-lined spherical bearing, retained by zinc plated steel snap rings. Removing the rubber eliminates the deflection and bind that the factory bushing generates under braking, steering, and acceleration load, sharpening steering and brake feel and letting the front suspension articulate without storing and releasing energy like a rubber spring. Because the bushing is adjustable, front caster can be dialed in for more steering centering torque and more camber gain at steering angle, or to shift the wheel in side view and clear tire rub at the bumper or fender. On xDrive cars the spherical bearing also curbs the front wheel hop that follows a hard launch on grippy tires. Expect some additional road noise and impact harshness over sharp bumps, the normal trade for removing an NVH bushing.
