The Walbro MP-12 is a universal in-tank fuel pickup that sits in the tank and feeds the pump inlet through a 5/16 in hose barb, screening fuel through a 70 micron mesh. Dead end means it carries a single fitting, so the fuel path terminates at this pickup rather than passing through to another one in series. With no bleed hole in the shutoff disc, the wetted mesh seals when fuel sloshes away and the pickup sucks shut instead of ingesting air, which suits a system that will never run dry. Where a system can run dry, one pickup in the tank should instead be a bleed hole version such as the MP-13. Each pickup flows roughly 40 gal/hr and has been tested to minus 40 F in gasoline and 0 F in diesel.
