Transmission mounts hold the gearbox in place and control how much it moves under load. On transverse Audi and Volkswagen platforms, the pendulum mount (often called the dogbone mount) ties the bottom of the transmission to the subframe. The soft factory rubber lets the drivetrain rock during hard launches and quick shifts, which shows up as wheel hop, clunks and a vague feel through the car.
