This kit converts an AWE Touring Edition cat-back that is already fitted to your MK8 Volkswagen GTI into an AWE Track Edition. That is the direction: Touring in, Track out. If you are running the Track Edition now and want the quieter Touring setup, you need the opposite part, AWE 3810-11489, the Track-to-Touring kit. Ordering the wrong direction is the single most common mistake with these two part numbers, so check which AWE system is on the car before you buy.

AWE builds its cat-backs in two voices. The Touring Edition is the sophisticated, drone-free one, carrying AWE's patented 180 Technology, a resonator design AWE says cancels the problematic frequencies that cause cabin drone, and it is the version aimed at cars that get driven every day. The Track Edition drops that resonated section in favour of straight pipes and is the louder, more aggressive one. AWE's own warning about the MK8 GTI Track Edition is worth repeating before you commit: it is known to be rowdy in the mid-range and can drone.

Understand what is in the box. This is not a complete exhaust system, and it will not work on a factory exhaust or on another brand's system. It is the replacement mid-section only: Track Edition straight pipes that take the place of the 180 Technology resonators in your existing AWE Touring Edition cat-back. Everything else on the car, including your tips, stays where it is. The kit is handcrafted from CNC mandrel-bent, U.S.-sourced .065-inch wall T304L stainless steel, in a clean, non-baffled, straight-through design, and bolts on directly. AWE states that no tune is required, and covers it under the AWE Lifetime Exhaust Warranty and the AWE No Check Engine Light Guarantee. Direction: converts an installed AWE Touring Edition into a Track Edition. Removes the 180 Technology resonators and fits Track Edition straight pipes in their place. Requires an AWE Touring Edition cat-back already on the vehicle; this is not a complete exhaust. Louder than Touring; AWE notes the Track Edition is rowdy in the mid-range and can drone.

  • 30 days from delivery to request and ship back a return on new, uninstalled items in original packaging with all hardware.
  • Standard returns: 8% restocking fee on the item price before tax and shipping. Shipping is not refunded in either direction. All waived if the item is defective or we made the error.
  • Fitment guaranteed: select your vehicle above, or confirm fitment with us in writing before you order. If the part shows as a fit and it is wrong, the return is on us, even after installation. Otherwise, installed or used parts cannot be returned.
