Dinan reworked the entire lower airbox here rather than just swapping the lid, using the space available in the bay to fit a custom filter with 115 in² of media against the stock 82 in², a 40% increase, inside a box 60% larger than the factory unit. A patterned secondary inlet sits on the side away from the engine to fill that extra volume, and Dinan tested opening shapes, sizes and locations to confirm it does not raise turbo inlet temperatures the way an open element intake does, across single and multiple gear pulls, constant speed running and 0 to 100 mph passes. The intake pipe is extended to take in the turbo inlet, and the finished system outflows the factory intake by roughly 15%, worth up to 6 whp and 7 lb-ft on an otherwise stock car. The lid retains a brace valley so factory or optional Dinan strut braces still clear.
