Brembo Prime Front Brake Disc 390x36mm Mercedes-AMG C63 E63 GLC63 SL63 - Dual Cast

The 09.B848.33 is a 390 mm Dual Cast front disc from Brembo’s Prime line, built for the big-brake Mercedes-AMG cars. Dual Cast is a bi-material construction: the high-carbon iron braking ring is cast directly around an aluminium hat, so the two metals are joined in the foundry rather than pinned or bolted together afterwards. Replacing the iron hat with aluminium takes a significant mass out of a rotor this size — mass that is both unsprung and rotating — while the friction surface stays iron and keeps behaving like iron when it is hot. Because the aluminium hat and the iron ring expand at different rates, the joint is designed to let the ring grow radially, which limits the coning that makes a heat-soaked one-piece disc feel long and soft at the pedal.

Note that Brembo builds a second Dual Cast disc, 09.C127.33, to exactly the same published dimensions — 390 mm diameter, 36 mm thick, 64.5 mm height, 67 mm centering bore, 5 holes — for the S-Class range. The two are different part numbers with different applications and are not interchangeable on dimensions alone; check the fitment list below rather than measuring the disc off the car. This is the front disc; the matching rear for the AMG GT and S-Class cars is 09.C128.33.
