Dinan Carbon Fiber Engine Cover BMW B58D 2020-2026 - Gloss Twill with Matte Accents

Dinan's carbon fiber engine cover for the B58D takes its cue from the E36 and E46 Dinan carbon valve covers and reworks the BMW power stripe motif with Dinan branding. This part number is the gloss version: a 2x2 gloss twill carbon fiber base, with opposing matte carbon fiber and white painted accents worked in around the cylinder count callouts. It is a direct replacement for the factory engine cover, the grommets needed to fit it are included, and Dinan quotes 0.25 hours of labour. At 2.9 pounds against 4.1 pounds for the OEM cover, it also takes 1.2 pounds off the top of the engine.

Four Dinan carbon engine covers are easy to confuse, so confirm two things before ordering: the engine, and which way round the finish runs. This one is for the B58D straight-six in the G01, G02, G20, G22, G23, G26, G29 and G42 cars, and it is a gloss base with matte accents. Part number D590-0004 is the same cover in the inverse finish, a matte base with gloss accents. D590-0005 and D590-0005-B are a different part altogether, shaped for the S58 engine in the G80, G82 and G87 M2, M3 and M4, and will not fit a B58D car. On the X3 and X4 M40i, Dinan restricts fitment to 2020 and newer cars, which are the ones that use the B58D.

Dinan warrants its performance products for the remainder of the vehicle manufacturer's new-car limited warranty (up to 4 years/50,000 miles) or for 2 years/unlimited miles, whichever is greater. Dinan further states that while the vehicle is still covered by the factory warranty, it covers both a defective Dinan component and any original manufacturer component directly affected by it. Dinan also states plainly that installing performance products may affect the vehicle manufacturer's new-car limited warranty.
