This intake pairs a 250 in³ airbox against the factory 150 in³ with a pleated cotton gauze filter of 82 in² versus the stock 57 in², so there is 66% more box volume and 44% more media ahead of the turbo. The upper intake resonator is deleted and replaced by a carbon fiber tube with a smooth, direct path in place of the resonator's stunted side branches, and the finished system flows 589 CFM against 458 CFM at 24 inches of water, about 7% more than stock. Less restriction ahead of the compressor is what shows up as quicker throttle and turbo response and less strain on the turbocharger for a given boost target. The semi-open box lets more induction noise into the cabin, and the filter washes and reuses rather than being replaced.
