The HKS Intercooler Kit R-Type replaces the FL5 Civic Type R's factory front mount unit with a 695 by 178 by 100 mm core carrying 10 fin rows and 9 tube rows, 22.4 percent more core area than the OEM 639 by 158 by 64 mm unit, and swaps the OEM resin end tanks for cast aluminum. This is the full kit, so the intercooler ships with the complete piping: mirror-buffed aluminum bent pipes and cast aluminum pipes for inlet and outlet at 60 mm inside diameter against the OEM rubber hose's 55 mm, plus silicone hoses, brackets, clamps and dedicated fasteners. Installation runs about four hours and calls for modifying the bumper inner air guide, relocating the ambient air temperature sensor and trimming a body bracket, but no cutting of the reinforcement bar.
